The new Premier of Queensland Anna Bligh has stated that the uranium mining ban will remain in place according to a report by Bloomberg.
Quote: “unequivocal” commitment the ban on uranium mining in Queensland would stand, said Belinda Carroll, a spokeswoman.
However in the other corner Federal Resources Minister Ian MacFarlane called the prohibition “nonsensical” in an e-mailed statement today.
Change is inevitable, it is the only constant that we have! I forget who said that but I think it is close to the mark.
If the Labour Party wins the election then it’s a case of Federal government versus State government to decide the outcome of Australia’s uranium reserves, which are valued at around A$20 billion.
