We are delighted to report that our very own gold bug Joe Kirtley has won this competition.

We entered this competition six months ago with a selection of mainly uranium stocks, as we believed that uranium would make good progress in the first half of this year. Well uranium did deliver the progress that we were looking for, but the uranium stocks decided to go on vacation so our entry finished in 83rd place out of 527 contestants.
As sometimes happens within a team the decision to go with uranium stocks was not unanimous and our gold bug decided to go it alone and enter his own selection. He chose Rio Narcea Mines Limited (RNG on the TSX) for all of his 10 entry slots and they were taken over by Lundin Mining. RNG started the competition at $3.03 and ended it at $5.40 for a gain of 78.2% in approximately six months.
Anyway he has won this competition so we can now sack him for thinking for himself and refusing to bend when under severe pressure – only joking!
Finally, many thanks to Eric Hommelberg at GoldDrivers.com for organising a terrific competition, we are already looking forward to the next one.
