Wyoming's long suffering uranium producers see better days in Japanese nuclear revival

In the four years since the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, Wyoming's uranium producers have waited for the Japanese to restart the country's fleet of nuclear power plants.

That day finally arrived last week when a reactor at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant was turned on again. 

The occasion marked a shift for the uranium market, if only symbolically, signaling an end to a period that has seen companies struggle with weak prices brought by tepid demand. 

"It is a shift in the winds, which is great for us," said Donna Wichers, a Uranium One executive. "We’re optimistic this will be the start of something positive for the industry."
